kiralyA gust of wind follows you through the door, bringing a scattering of snowflakes with it. They melt quickly in the warmth of the fire. Faint music drifts over from the kitchen, something old and instrumental. The scent of baking spices comes with it: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, vanilla. It blends with the fragrance of pine from the greenery throughout the room. There’s a plate on the table by the fire, and two glasses. Cookies. Milk. Something stronger than milk, for those who indulge. And under the plate, there’s a note.

I’m Kiraly, and I’m so thrilled to have you write for me! I’m sure I’ll love whatever you come up with, so this letter is merely a list of suggestions to give you ideas. I hope you’ll find something to inspire you, but as long as you keep my DNWs in mind, feel free to do as you like! General Likes:
Cute, fluffy stuff. It probably isn’t possible to write something too sweet, so feel free to pour the sugar on! I don’t mind a bit of angst, but it has to have a happy ending. For gen fics, I love to see characters building friendships, working together, going on adventures, getting into (and out of) trouble. Anything with characters out in nature is pretty great too. For shippy fics, I have a huge weakness for cuddling, (mild) hurt/comfort, and, uh...characters getting soaked and having to snuggle to warm up, haha. (Bonus points if there’s snow or ice involved, since this is Yuletide and in my part of the world that’s snow season). Kisses are good (awkward or sweet or steamy). I’m also totally down for things like “characters have to share a bed for some reason” or other situations where the characters kind of get thrown together and then develop feelings for each other.
Dislikes (Do Not Want):
Character death or maiming, including (for No End and SSSS) characters getting infected who do not do so in canon. (More on that in the fandom-specific sections). Violence beyond what is canon-typical. Abusive relationships. Sexual violence of any kind. Explicit sex (allusions to sex or situations that get kind of steamy are okay, just...keep it teen rated or lower, please). It’s also probably best to avoid AUs (unless otherwise specified) or unrequested crossovers.
Please do not include romantic pairings other than the ones I’ve requested, with the exception of background canon relationships.
Anyway, enough of this. On to the fandoms!
Books of the Raksura
Requested Characters: Chime, Ember, Jade, Moon
Acceptable Romantic (ish) Pairings: Chime/Moon, Jade/Moon, Chime/Jade/Moon
Okay, so I know the Raksura are flexible about “romance” in that they tend to form strong relationships with many Raksura and sometimes sex is involved. So while some of these are prompted as “romantic” pairings it’s really more like “these characters and their particular emotional bond”. If that makes sense. Anyway, I only mention the “romantic pairings” part because I’d rather not see anything alluding to Ember having sex with any of the other requested characters, since it doesn’t seem like something that would happen in canon.
In general, I’d love to see something that explores the relationships between any of these characters, or the characters generally thinking about how they fit into the life of the court. So cozy moments in the colony tree, or some kind of mission outside the colony where they have to work together would be great.
Chime/Moon: I adore Chime, he's one of my favorite characters and his relationship with Moon brings me so much joy. It'd be fun to see the two of them exchanging knowledge - Chime helping Moon learn the little bits of Raksuran culture he doesn't know, or picking Moon's brain about the groundling societies he's encountered. And I love seeing Moon encourage Chime to be assertive and confident in his role as a warrior (and, in the later books, dealing with his weird not-quite-mentor-powers). I'd also be perfectly okay with something fluffy and sweet (five times Chime cuddled Moon, and one time Moon initiated the cuddles?)
Jade/Moon: Okay, so I know they're the most focused-on pair in the books, but I LOVE them and would be happy to get any fanwork involving them. Maybe they get called away on a new adventure, or have to deal with visitors from another court? Or little domestic moments would be nice, just the two of them spending time with each other and with their clutch.
Ember: So I’m fascinated by the contrast between Ember and Moon; we get to see firsthand how Moon differs from the typical consort roles. I’d love to see a fic about them learning from each other, because they both have different strengths and different things to offer the court. Or alternatively, anything about Ember adjusting to his new life at Indigo Cloud, getting to know people and finding his place.
In Other Lands
Requested Characters: Elliot Schafer, Golden-Hair-Scented-Like-Summer, Luke Sunborn, Serene-Heart-in-the-Chaos-of-Battle
Acceptable Romantic Pairings: Elliot/Luke, Golden/Serene. (Mentions of past Elliot/Serene are okay, I just don’t want to read something focusing on that relationship)
Okay, so I just read this book last week, but I loved it so much that I knew I had to request it! There isn’t much fanfiction for it yet, so I’d be excited to see just about anything. Here are some prompts to give you ideas, if you need them:
In general, I’d love a story about all four of them after the events of the book. Where do they end up? What new challenges do they run into (and how do they make everything worse before it gets better?) Are there mermaids? An adventure involving any combination of the four of them would be fun, so feel free to be creative! If you want to write something shippy, read on for some couple-specific prompts.
Elliot/Luke: I love this pair so much! Elliot is a little sass-bucket and Luke is a ball of feelings wrapped in muscles and feathers. Their romance (or what counts as a romance, when one party is totally oblivious for most of it) is one of my favorite parts of the book. I think it’d be cool to see something from Luke’s perspective, especially during the events of the book. When did he first realize he loved Elliot? What was he thinking during Elliot’s various mad schemes (especially the whole thing with the school play)? On the other hand, it’d also be fun to see how the two of them grow into their relationship post-canon. I imagine there might be various bumps in the road as they figure out how to be boyfriends, so I’d love to see that explored. Alternatively, if you want to write a thousand words of fluffy cuddling, I won’t say no to that either. ;)
Golden/Serene: So elven gender roles (and the hilarious contrast between them and human ones) are one of my favorite parts about this canon. Which makes me love Golden and Serene’s relationship even more, because we get to see Serene learn that maybe Golden isn’t such a delicate flower after all. So I’d love to see more interactions like that - Golden learning more about Serene’s life as a warrior, and constantly surprising her with the things he’s capable of (while still enjoying things like nice clothes and fancy hair).

This romance comic set in a post-apocalyptic zombie world has recently eaten my heart! (Not...literally. Though there is some cannibalism). There is also, for some reason, NO fanfiction for it as far as I can see. So if you write something, I will automatically love it because it will exist!
Although I’ve only requested the four characters in the tagset, I’m fine with any characters being included as long as it makes sense for them to be there.
Just a note regarding my death/infection DNW: I’m fine with the presence of existing Undead - Wight’s whole backstory and present condition is fine. I just don’t want to read about anyone else getting infected, please.
Prompts:
Jenn: I LOVE HER. It’s clear that she’s trying so hard to keep the group focused and smooth out the relationships between everyone else, even though it’s like herding cats. It’d be nice for her to get a quiet moment to herself, or maybe a nice day with Wight or Cotton when events are less crazy than in canon. Jenn and Cotton are kind of my BroTP for this fandom, so seeing them interact and work together would be nice. (Or like, Jenn chewing Cotton out about his TERRIBLE romantic decisions, either in the current setting or in the past after his fling with Wight). I don’t ship her with anybody and would prefer not to read anything shippy with her, at present.
Cotton: Oh, Cotton. I love his ridiculous sense of humor and his ability to be COMPLETELY oblivious to relationship things while also being really good at the leadership side of things. I’m hoping he gets to be reunited with Jerry soon (because it really seems like they’ll be a thing) so I’d love to read some fic about the two of them making things work. Or, like I said before, Cotton’s friendship with Jenn, or him building a friendship with Wight after having hoped for something more.
Jerry: Such a mysterious guy! What is his past like? Where does he go after leaving the group? So many questions! Basically I’d love to read speculation about his pre-canon life, or a look at his thoughts on the whole awkward situation with Benny and Cotton, or anything really. And like I said, him getting together with Cotton would be fun to read, if you feel like taking the shippy route.
Ramona: We haven’t spent much time with her yet in canon, but she is SO COOL and I’m very excited that we seem to be getting a look at her past in Chapter 9. I’m really curious to know how she first met Cotton and Jenn and Wight, and the kinds of adventures she had with them before. Also it’d be pretty sweet to see something with her and a girlfriend, so if you want to play around with that, feel free!
A Redtail’s Dream
Requested Characters: Hannu Viitanen, Jonna Kuikka, Riikka Skärsholm, Ville
Acceptable Romantic Pairings: Jonna/Riikka, Hannu/Human!Ville.
I am equally okay with a story that gets into some of the supernatural stuff from the comic, or one that focuses on everyday life in Hokanniemi. I really like post-canon stuff involving Ville figuring out how to be human, and Hannu’s friends maybe being a little suspicious of him. Also, if you want to write a story about the friend group, feel free to include Paju and Joona and Anssi as well (I just couldn’t request them all). Also, I’m equally okay with the idea of Hannu and Ville as a romantic pairing or as a friendship, so feel free to take them either way.
Hannu & or / Ville: In general, I love the thought of the two of them going through various “human training” ordeals. How does Ville learn to read? To wash dishes? Does he ever get over his fear of the vacuum cleaner? And then there are all the social aspects of being human, like personal boundaries (I bet Ville doesn’t have them) or holidays, or dancing, or...you get the idea. I also imagine it would take some time to get used to having different senses as a human, so feel free to explore that as well.
For the more supernatural side of things, it’d be cool to read a story in which Hannu and Ville continue to get pulled into the animal spirits’ drama, or start to notice other spirit-related things. I like to think that after their experience with the dream quest, they might be more sensitive to such things in the future.
Jonna/Riikka: I’d love a story about these two being cute together, going on dates or just enjoying each other’s company. Maybe how their families react to the news that they’re dating (I like any range between shocked surprise and “lol of course we’ve known all along”). Maybe how they got together in the first place - who asked who out? Was there pining? How do they make their relationship work when they both have other life/family obligations that keep them busy? Because Jonna is a bit of a goofball and Riikka is more serious, I’d love to see them embracing each other’s character quirks.
Stand Still Stay Silent

A note about my “do not want” for death/infection with the Rash: In general, I don’t want to read a story about anyone getting infected with the Rash. And specifically, I don’t want to read fic about Tuuri’s death. If you want to write a Tuuri story, I’d prefer you
take one of the following approaches:
*Canon-divergent AU where she doesn’t get infected and does not die, or
*Something in the canon setting, but taking place before she is infected, or
*A fix-it fic that involves her coming back to life somehow.
You’re also free to write a story that doesn’t involve her at all, and instead focuses on the other characters.
Anyway, moving on! Here are some prompts:
In general, I’d like to see stories that fall more on the lighthearted adventure side of things - even if they have a run-in with trolls, or someone gets injured during the course of a mission, I’ll be happy if things end up okay. I love seeing the different characters bond with each other: Sigrun taking Emil under her wing as her right-hand warrior, Emil and Tuuri exchanging stories of their lives before the mission, Tuuri and Lalli working through some of their family stuff. Really any combination of characters together would make me happy, I love all the possibilities with such an interesting group of characters! And even though they weren’t requested, feel free to add in other characters like Reynir or Mikkel or Onni if you like. Now, read on for some shippy prompts!
Emil/Lalli: I love the idea of Emil and Lalli figuring each other out despite all the obstacles in their way - language barriers, different backgrounds, magic/no magic. Neither of them seem like people who have had a lot of friends before, so finding friendship in each other - and then more than friendship - makes me happy. Cuddles, cookies, annoying the rest of the crew with public displays of affection (or trying to hide their relationship and failing). And again, any ideas about how they’d make things work post-canon (does Lalli move to Sweden? Does Emil actually manage to learn some Finnish so he can move to Keuruu? Do they both move somewhere else to be together?) would be lovely. I’m kind of a sucker for post-canon established relationship fics with these two, so feel free to run with something like that too.
Sigrun/Tuuri: I really enjoy shippy stuff with the two of them, but if you want to go gen that’s okay too. I love how they have a shared enthusiasm for adventure despite having completely different backgrounds. And I can definitely see Tuuri having a crush on Sigrun during the mission (“You’re so tall!”) and Sigrun growing steadily more impressed with Tuuri’s competence as time goes on. Post-canon, if you choose to go with a version of events where things work out okay for Tuuri, I’d love to see the two of them figuring out how a relationship will work given their different backgrounds.

And I can definitely see Tuuri having a crush on Sigrun during the mission (“You’re so tall!”) and Sigrun growing steadily more impressed with Tuuri’s competence as time goes on. Post-canon, if you choose to go with a version of events where things work out okay for Tuuri, I’d love to see the two of them figuring out how a relationship will work given their different backgrounds.
