Hello there, dear creator! I’m Kiraly, and I’m so thrilled to have you create something for me. I’m sure I’ll love whatever you come up with, so this letter is merely a list of suggestions to give you ideas. General Likes:

I really love character-driven stories with a lot of emotion. I’m all about the fluff, but I also enjoy angst with a happy ending. I love to see characters building friendships, working together, going on adventures, getting into (and out of) trouble. Found family and loyalty are always welcome. I love poetry and epistolary stories too, so feel free to play with the format. I also love stories that make me laugh.

For romances, I have a huge weakness for cuddling, (mild) hurt/comfort, and, uh...characters getting soaked and having to snuggle to warm up, haha. Kisses are good (awkward or sweet or steamy). I’m also totally down for things like “there was only one bed”, “fake/pretend relationship”, or other situations where the characters kind of get thrown together and then develop feelings for each other. Also very here for friends-to-lovers, especially the kind that takes years to realize. Mutual pining is great, though I prefer it to end happily.

Although my prompts are mainly focused on canon-setting stories, I adore modern AUs, so if you want to put the characters in college or a coffee shop or an office or whatever, I will probably be delighted and charmed. I’ve also been really into “alternate universe: modern with magic” stories recently, so it would be fun to see something like that.

General Likes:

I really love character-driven stories with a lot of emotion. I’m all about the fluff, but I also enjoy angst with a happy ending - and a lot of these songs probably lend themselves to angst more than fluff. For gen fics, I love to see characters building friendships, working together, going on adventures, getting into (and out of) trouble. Found family and loyalty are always welcome.

For romances, I have a huge weakness for cuddling, (mild) hurt/comfort, and, uh...characters getting soaked and having to snuggle to warm up, haha. Kisses are good (awkward or sweet or steamy). I’m also totally down for things like “there was only one bed”, “fake/pretend relationship”, or other situations where the characters kind of get thrown together and then develop feelings for each other. I don’t really care if you keep the genders of the characters the same as listed in the song - I welcome characters of any genders and in any romantic combo (including trans and nonbinary characters). I’m also open to characters of any sexuality, including asexual or aromantic characters.

I’ve requested fic for all of these, but art treats are welcome!

Speculative: In general I’m a huge fan of any kind of sci-fi or fantasy setting, especially if there’s adventure and romance. A (non-exhaustive) list of character tropes I enjoy:

* superheroes/villains * ladies with swords * librarians * sailors * mermaids * selkies * cyborgs * artificial intelligence * bards/musicians * space pirates/crews * witches * magical creatures hiding in human form * dragons * fair folk * mothman * ghosts *

I enjoy the traditional versions of these character types, but in a lot of cases I’m even more excited to see them turned on their heads, with characters who are defying expectations.

I also enjoy stories set on ships (sailing ships, airships, spaceships - take your pick!), post-apocalyptic settings*, and fairy tales (especially with a twist). I also like stories where the setting is mostly our modern world, but with a hint of magic or supernatural elements. Quest-type adventures are great, but I also love quiet moments in between the action when characters can decompress together, regardless of the wider setting.

*although I like post-apocalyptic stuff, I’d prefer to avoid anything too close to home. Far-future post-apocalypse is preferred, or people coping with some disaster other than a pandemic.

Contemporary: Although I’ve always been primarily a fantasy reader, over the past few years I’ve really gotten into the realm of real-world settings - stories set in coffee shops, offices, college, etc. So! If you’d prefer to focus less on worldbuilding and magic, and more on a couple of idiots figuring things out in our own world, by all means do so! Some of the specific prompts will have more details, but I love stories about longtime friends growing closer (and maybe falling in love), lonely people finding friendship for the first time, characters realizing that their weird bits are actually worth loving, and the messy complicated feelings that come from growing up in a small town or otherwise isolated.

Dislikes (Do Not Want):
Character death or maiming, including characters getting infected with some terminal disease. Some background violence is okay, but nothing too graphic (and no torture!) Abusive relationships. Incest. Sexual violence of any kind. Explicit sex (allusions to sex or situations that get kind of steamy are okay, just...keep it teen rated or lower, please). I’d prefer to steer away from homophobia or transphobia as predominant story themes, though it’s okay to include mentions of them. Dementia/permanent memory loss are also subjects to avoid. If possible, I’d prefer nothing with a completely hopeless ending.

Now, on to the prompts! Because there is a lot of overlap in what I’m requesting, and because many of these pairings give a lot of information already, I’m going to lump them into groups.

Superheroes, Supervillains

I am WEAK for stories about people with superpowers, particularly when they fall on opposite sides of the traditional hero/villain divide. I think there’s a lot of room to explore how these roles shape the people who are in them, how they might chafe against those roles or start to question whether they’re really on the right side (or if a “right side” even truly exists). Throw in romantic feelings and/or physical attraction for someone who’s on the “wrong” side, and there’s so much potential for a good story. I also love seeing what these characters are like when they’re not fighting (or committing) crimes, and how the people close to them feel about the whole thing. Plus I love the whole concept of having a public persona as a hero or villain, and having to balance that with more mundane responsibilities (they still have to pay rent, buy groceries, go to work, etc).

There’s also a lot of room for societal commentary in these prompts, if you want to go that route. What makes someone a villain? Who gives legitimacy to the heroes, are they a government entity or operating outside of the law? If the heroes do work with the government, is everything above board or are they being exploited or manipulated? Do the villain’s henchpeople get better healthcare than the hero’s sidekicks do? Do we need a union of superpowered people (or their henchpeople) so there’s someone to step in and take care of the people who take care of the world? What would that look like?

Knights, Adventurers

Requests:
- Chivalrous Male Knight/Male Witch Who Is Feared But Actually Good
- Female Adventurer in Need of a Challenge/Lady Stuck in Tower of Ridiculous Traps
- Oblivious Serious Female Knight/Famous Female Bard with a Longtime Crush

Who doesn’t love a beefy dude or strapping lady with a heart of gold and a sword? The idea of someone with a set, noble purpose encountering someone who doesn’t share their calling (and either respecting or questioning it) can make for such a fun story. There’s a lot to be said for different worldviews colliding and characters slowly learning who someone is beneath their public persona - which is true of both the knight characters and their potential love interests. How does the knight find out that the witch is actually good, and what will he do about it? What will it take for the bard to make her feelings known? When an adventurer attempts a rescue, does the person at the top of the tower actually want to leave? Are the traps really what’s stopping her from leaving?

Royalty

Requests:

- Kind Naive King/His Scheming Advisor Who Wanted To Topple Him But Finds He Likes Him (M/M)

Similar to the knight prompt, there’s a lot to be explored when you have a character in a set role that comes with a lot of responsibilities. In the case of royalty, the set role is one the characters didn’t choose, and regardless of their feelings are duty-bound to take on. There’s also an element of loneliness inherent in being a monarch, and a sense of having to put forward a public face that may not reflect their actual feelings. For the love interests - how do they see through to the person beneath? How do they react to that knowledge? How does the charming rogue get through to the lonely queen - not just in a metaphorical sense, but also literally? When the advisor realizes his feelings about the king have changed, what will he do?

I enjoy modern AUs that fit the Halloween theme (like, if you want to write about the SSSS characters exploring a haunted house or something) I’d also be very okay with some kind of spooky ghost story or “character is a monster/werewolf/vampire” story for this particular exchange, but again, something that ends on a hopeful note.

I’ve requested art or fic for every fandom, so do whichever you prefer! For art, I really enjoy a wide variety of styles, from sketches to watercolors to digital pieces. I love bright, saturated colors if you decide to work in color, but I also love greyscale and black and white. Since this is Trick or Treat, one art-specific request is to draw the characters in some kind of Halloween costume. (Past examples of this include an amazing drawing of Reynir and Tuuri dressed as characters from Zootopia, Cookie Monster Lalli, and Hannu and Ville as Ghostbusters). I think most of my fic prompts will work for art too, but if you don’t see anything you like, feel free to do your own thing. :)

Attolia/Eugenides:
I know this ship gets all the canon love, but one can never have too much of a favorite ship, right? Right. Anyway, I’d love to see deleted scenes from any of the books (especially post QoA) or little moments alone when they can just relax and unwind from the stress of court life. Bonus points for anything involving the secret passage between their bedrooms, or Irene’s private reactions to Eugenides’ stunts with the court.

Costis/Aristogiton and Costis & Aristogiton:
Okay, so I requested these two as either a romantic or platonic pair, because I like both interpretations. The impression we get from Costis in KoA is that he and Aris are “good friends”, but Costis also seems like the kind of narrator who would be circumspect about any romantic attachments. So I’d love to see something that explores their relationship, whichever way you choose to interpret it.

From a friendship perspective, how did they become friends in the first place? It’d be neat so see something from when they first joined the guard, how the two of them navigate their new duties and their fellow guardsmen. I’d also love to see a scene like the ones we get in canon, where the two of them just sort of hang out when they’re off-duty.

On the romantic side, I would love to see something about that “three day hunting trip” they were supposed to go on. Every time I read that I think “secret romantic getaway? Probably with hunting too because they seem like guys who would enjoy hunting as a date?” Obviously they don’t get to go on the one that was scheduled in canon, but another one from the past or in the future would be cool. Or just stolen moments alone together between duties, relaxing in the barracks and maybe getting up to a bit more than just drinking.

In either case, I also think it’d be cool to see something from Aris’s perspective, maybe his thoughts on what happened with Costis during KoH or his adventures afterwards. One note, while I do also love Costis/Kamet, I’d rather not have anything involving Costis cheating (it’d be so out of character!) or one-sided pining on the part of Aris. So if you choose to create something that overlaps with TaT, either downplay the connection between Costis and Kamet or use it as a way for mutual feelings to be revealed.

Costis & Eugenides the God:
So I fully subscribe to the “Costis becomes the new Thief of Eddis” theory (a few Tumblr posts involving that are here, here and here.) I think it makes sense that Costis doesn’t really realize he’s become the Thief, too, for reasons mentioned in that last post, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he started having encounters with the god of thieves. The thing that really ties it all together for me - the night on the battlements, the fact that Costis is the one sent to steal Kamet away - is the moment in TaT when Costis falls into the well and does not die. Like, Kamet is so certain he must be dead, you can’t go falling into wells and survive, and yet...Costis does. So honestly my main idea for this scenario is Costis having an encounter with the god Eugenides while he’s stuck in the well waiting for Kamet to come rescue him. Maybe it causes Costis to realize he’s the Thief, maybe he brushes it aside as the product of his subsequent illness, but either way I think it would make for a cool story or art piece.

Costis/Kamet:
Yet another ship whose canon interactions fill me with delight! I love the slow build of their relationship in canon, all the ways they gradually learn to trust each other and every time Kamet thinks of running off and instead chooses to stay. I would actually love to see a story that takes the scenario I mentioned in the previous prompt (Costis vs the well, with divine intervention) and includes Kamet in the equation where Costis figures out he’s the new Thief of Eddis/Attolia. Or anything post-canon, honestly, with the two of them going off together and starting their new lives as spies researchers. I love the thought of these two opening up to each other more, finding a rhythm of life and learning more about how they complement each other.

Eddis & Attolia:
These two ladies are both so great, each ruling their kingdoms the best they can and being generally badass. I enjoy seeing the contrast between them in canon, and so it would be cool to see them interact more. Maybe an epistolary story where they exchange news and advice about ruling, or their complicated feelings towards each other after everything that happens in QoA. Plus, they both love Eugenides in their own ways, so I can totally see them share a look of exasperation whenever he does something particularly over the top. On an art-related note, it’d be cool to see something set up to show each queen in her respective palace, set up to show how their lives differ but are ultimately similar in duty.

Ina & Eurydice:
I mostly requested these two because I’d love to see more stories about the women in this world, and these two seem pretty cool. It can’t have been easy to survive the attack on the villa and all the other events that befall them in aCoK, but everything we learn about them makes it sound like they rose to the task. It would be interesting to see a story about those events from their perspective, or maybe their take on Sophos becoming king and having Eddis as their sister-in-law. (And not just those events, but the cultural implications of Sounis uniting with Eddis and both of them swearing to Attolia - I imagine there’d be a lot of upheaval, and these two would be in a position to see it.)

The air smells of cocoa and sugar, with hints of other scents - orange, vanilla, mint - occasionally rising to the surface. But there’s no sign of any of that, just a girl with a long braid sitting at a table, making a stack of paper hearts. She looks up, startled.

“Oh, hello! You must be the chocolatier. I have some suggestions for you,” she indicates the hearts, which have words like “fluff” and “kissing” scrawled on them, “But of course, you’re free to do what you like. I can’t wait to try your new confection!”

In other words, hello there, chocolatier! I’m Kiraly, and I’m so thrilled to have you write for me! I’m sure I’ll love whatever you come up with, so this letter is merely a list of suggestions to give you ideas. General Likes:
Cute, fluffy stuff. It probably isn’t possible to write something too sweet, so feel free to pour the sugar on! I don’t mind a bit of angst, but it has to have a happy ending. For gen fics, I love to see characters building friendships, working together, going on adventures, getting into (and out of) trouble. Anything with characters out in nature is pretty great too. For shippy fics, I have a huge weakness for cuddling, (mild) hurt/comfort, and, uh...characters getting soaked and having to snuggle to warm up, haha. (Bonus points if there’s snow or ice involved, since it’s winter in my part of the world). Kisses are good (awkward or sweet or steamy). I’m also totally down for things like “characters have to share a bed for some reason” or other situations where the characters kind of get thrown together and then develop feelings for each other.

I’m not a big Valentine’s Day person, but I do enjoy the idea of over-the-top ridiculous punny cards, or one character going overboard with gifts to try to impress the other. So if you want to write or draw something related to that holiday, keep it silly and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it.

I’ve requested art or fic for every fandom, so do whichever you prefer! For art, I really enjoy a wide variety of styles, from sketches to watercolors to digital pieces. I love bright, saturated colors if you decide to work in color, but I also love greyscale and black and white. Since it’s winter here, I’d love to see characters bundled up in warm clothes, or cuddling by a fireplace with a hot beverage, or having fun in the snow together. I think most of my fic prompts will work for art too, but if you don’t see anything you like, feel free to do your own thing. :)
