Another round of late-night poetry

Because apparently my Tumblr rant about healthcare wasn't enough to get it out of my system, I wrote this last night.
It starts
with a road trip.
Destination:
hospital.
Diagnosis:
life, full of needles
decades of
pricking skin
careful counting
orange juice at 3 AM.
Phone calls
doctor says
'more testing needed'
'we've never heard of your insurance'
'oh, you're the one who cried'
Words too heavy
to digest
another dietary restriction.
Years of
coping
co-pays
deductibles always met.
It ends
with a label:
Pre-Existing Condition.
All I want
is to exist.
